I have saved a lot of money while shopping at Joann’s and Michael’s. However, it was not always that way. When I first started making arts and crafts, I spent way too much money because I did not know how to save. After a month, I started evaluate what I was spending, and I decided to make changes.
The first thing I did was reduce my spending on scrapbook paper. In Joann’s and Michael’s, they run sales on paper every couple of weeks. I learned how to wait for those sales to stock up on scrapbook paper. Usually the sales are 40 to 50 percent off regular prices. The savings will add up over time.
For lace and ribbon, shop in the discount bins at these stores. I do this all the time, and I find great bargains. Many times, the items in discount bins contain discontinued items, but I can always find something that I can use. One time I got three rubber stamps at Michael’s for only one dollar each. They were not the fanciest stamps I have ever seen, but they are nice. I purchased them because I know I can make them work for me.
Pay attention to the store flyers. Joann’s always has good coupons in the store paper. One time, I saved $5 off a $35 purchase because I had a coupon. Sometimes, the coupon will be for anything in the store while other times it will be for certain items like fabric or sewing supplies.
